Massage is a difficult concept to define, rather easier to explain. Simply put, massage is the manipulation of soft tissues (bones and ¹Â´ÏƼ muscles, tendons, ligaments and skin) and joints of the body to achieve the psychological, physiological and physiological response. The physiological response is typically accompanied by discomfort or pain. The psychological response is designed to motivate the person in order to engage in more activities that are beneficial to their health. You can also use the psychological response to inspire yourself. Massage therapy is a popular complementary therapy that can be used to relieve pain, ease stress and improve the quality life.

Massage therapy dates back to ancient Greece. There doctors, gymnasts, and the wealthy offered massage therapy as part of their healing methods. The ancients believed that massage could cure many ailments because the skin was believed to contain nerve endings that could send messages from the brain to the body's other organs. Massage therapists were also considered experts in healing and music. Similar to doctors and chiropractors, the traditional massage therapists were proficient in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illnesses.

The Greek verb "massa" that means "to rub," is also the source of the word massage. It is possible that the ancient Greeks were using the term "massage" in relation to their rub when they first began to practice medicine. This was the origin of the term "massage". However, even though Greek verb "massa" is employed in conjunction with "therapy" in the present, many doctors still believe it is not appropriate to give massages to their patients.

Massage therapy has spread across the world over the centuries. It was accepted in many western countries during the 20th century as an effective method of healing. There are 2.5 million people who are receiving massage therapy treatments in North America alone. Massage has seen a rise in popularity since its beginning. It is now a standard component of sports coaching programs and wellness classes for those who wish to improve their overall health or reduce the chance of developing certain types of cancer. Many physical therapists, chiropractors and osteopaths utilize massage therapies on their patients as part of their treatment regimens.

One factor that has helped massage gain such a huge following is the use of "herbal" in relation to massage techniques. In the beginning of massage therapy, oil was typically used as an fluid tolubricate. An excellent analogy is to compare massage to earlier versions of shampoos. Shampoos were initially thought to be too harsh to be used every day but they began to gain acceptance over the years.

Massage therapists have been often observed to incorporate essential oils into their massage therapy sessions, particularly for treating skin issues such as eczema and acne. Some people may still be unaware of the benefits of essential oils. When you think of roses, for instance, do you think of flowers? Many of us will remember the beautiful tune that plays during commercials of major importance like massage.

Traditional Chinese medicine is often considered an alternative to modern medicine. Many people including westerners are drawn to the Eastern culture due to this. China is famous for its acupuncture, Tai Chi, and other forms of Chinese medicine. China is home to some of the finest examples of Chinese medicine. Because of the great respect that people have for traditional Chinese medicine it has spread across the globe. This has allowed massage therapy to be widely accepted in Western society.

The popularity of Chinese treatment is not as a surprise. Massage therapy is a great method of relieving tension and stress. The healing capabilities of traditional Chinese medicine are undeniable, but many people have discovered that they can produce positive effects when they rub soft lotions on the skin during a massage.
