A Riddle: How Are Math Word Problems Not Like School?

Buzz is a counting game that has been played by kids for ages. It can quickly become a Halloween math game just by changing the word 'buzz' to a Halloween word. You might like to use 'Dracula', 'Boo' or 'trick or treat'. Start with multiples of seven being the banned numbers that have to be replaced by the buzz word.

There are also board games such as Tic-tac-toe that can teach kids math and logic. They are great math games for kids also because by playing these games, kids run additions, subtractions and even multiplications in their head without even realizing it. They are lots of fun, they can be played by both kids and adults, and they are a nice way for the family to spend some quality time together.

If one triangle is the number 3, what number will a triangle plus a triangle be? If a star is equal to 2 and a moon is equal to 3, what number will three stars and web page a moon be?

Do Activities that Involve math: Students can upgrade their knowledge by taking online math quizzes, puzzles, etc. Apart from this, they can also practice free online worksheets to enhance their problem solving ability.

You will not know the material and be able to pass a test if you have daydreamed in class, copied answers to worksheets and basically did not do the work.

Hiring an Math tutor is a good solution to this problem. Because the teaching of Math should be child centered, a personal tutor can be a great resource. A personal tutor will not only gauge the aptitude and level of a student and can devise learning strategies accordingly. Every student has different needs and no two students have the same learning style. In a large classroom setting, it is impossible for the instructor to take care of the learning needs of every single individual.

Education is about community and positive partnerships. There are people in your life who love math, you know them, and you see them in class and marvel at how quickly they raise their hands to eagerly answer questions. Find someone who really loves math though, not someone that really loves being right. Go out and find kids or adults that really have a passion for the logic of how things work.
