Josh Morris has a dream ending in mind for his NRL career and it doesn't involve coming full circle against a Campbell on Saturday.
Morris will enter the NRL's finals in pursuit of an elusive premiership that he's been unable to claim in his 323-game career.
He's also grappling with the reality that a loss will mark the conclusion of a 15-year career after announcing his retirement last week.
There is every chance it could be book-ended by the Gold Coast's only father-son link in Preston and Jayden Campbell.
Morris's debut as a fresh-faced youngster in 2007 came in the Titans' first ever NRL match, with Preston his opposite number.
Come Saturday in Rockhampton, detik Jayden looms as the Titans' biggest threat, breaking the line in the same fashion his father did.
"It's pretty crazy. I think (brother) Brett may have played against (Roosters half) Sammy Walker's dad (Shane) as well," Morris said.
"You know you're getting old when you're playing against kids of their dads that you played against too.
"But also makes you feel proud that you've been able to stay at a level and a standard for so long that you've been able to see these kids come through.
"You can certainly see bits of Preston in Jayden ... He's got a bit more size but he's certainly got all that X-factor and excitement that Preston had.
"He'll certainly be someone to watch on Saturday."
Morris can, however, see a future past this weekend in a season that resulted in his twin Brett's injury-induced retirement.
The 36-year-old Josh's last brush with a grand final came in 2014 at Canterbury, losing to South Sydney.
While that could long torment him as the one that got away, Morris is seeking inspiration from it as the Roosters aim to become the first side in 27 years to lift the trophy from outside the top four.
"If you can draw some comparisons to 2014 we finished in seventh and still made the grand final," Morris said.
"We're sitting in fifth so it's not impossible.
"We've got a young squad here but we're confident in our ability and believe we can win the comp.
