Some Important Facts and Myths About The Menstrual Cycle

Menstruation is a normal process that involves bleeding from the uterus of a woman for menopause a particular period once every month. In this article we will discuss some important facts and myths associated with menstrual cycle.
Menstrual cycle also known as monthly cycle is a monthly process in which the female reproductive organs get ready for the possibility of pregnancy. The main events in the endometrium and monthly cycle are ovulation, acne breakouts the thickening of the endometrium and menstruation. The length of the monthly cycle can be anything from 20 to 36 days. But the average menstrual cycle is about 28 days long. Over 70% of all women menstruate approximately every 28 days. Remaining women experience considerable variations from the average.
It is expected that a woman who starts to menstruate at the age of 13, stop at 50. They may menstruate three or four time in the first year. A middle aged woman's menses may also become irregular before the menopause.
Sudden shock, worry or joy can affect the cycle and may make the monthly period come late or ovulation early or prevent it altogether. There are woman who are regular to time.Other are never quite certain when to expect the period. Influence of climate, way of living, constitutional and hereditary tendencies may also cause variations.
There are many myths associated with menstruation. There are many dos and don'ts to be followed during this period like you must not wash your hair or have a bath or play sports etc. Some religious and cultural restrictions are also imposed during menses like the girls cannot enter the kitchen or do worship in temples etc.
Excitement during the monthly cycle is quite significant in woman. Sometimes the desire for sex is quite significant in woman during this period. Several medical researchers have conclusively established that intercourse performed during menstrual period is not harmful at all. If the partners do not have any problem, they can merrily go ahead. In addition, there is an advantage that the chances of conception are negligibly during this period.
Still it is considered unhygienic in many communities to indulge in sex during this period. There is, however, no doubt that medically such acts are not prohibited but obviously they would cause much inconvenience to both.
Moderate activities and exercises during this period helps relieve cramps. If you are bleeding a lot, it is a good idea to use a sanitary towel for extra protection. You can carry on all your regular activities as normal.
