Bunch Of Mango Plum Or Gandaria Fruit On Tree With Tropical Garden Background

Gandaria has scientific name Bouea macrophylla and the look resembles mango but smaller in size as small as golf ball. The flesh is like mango which turns from green to yellow or bright orange when it ripens however with pink or purple seeds. Gandaria or different local names Jatake is a plant that originated from the islands of Indonesia and Malaysia. This plant grows within the tropics, and extensively cultivated in Sumatra and Thailand.

Gandaria fruit also has a bitter and sweet style which makes it appropriate for use as a combination of fruit ice, or to be eaten instantly. If you aren't really acquainted with the name gandaria, in English this fruit can be nicely generally identified as plum mango and marian plum. However, don_t be mistaken this fruit to be part of plum species because it is truly coming from the identical family with mango and cashew, Anacardiaceae. Both the leaves and fruit from the tree could be eaten.

Its leaves are lancet-shaped, smooth and glossy and its branches hang down. The flowers are in panicles like mango flowers that grow at the end of younger branches on the intersection of the leaves and are pale yellow in colour. The flesh of the fruit is thick, some are bitter and some are candy.
