Abstract

This paper aims to give a historical overview about the importance of Habermas theory for the contemporary philosophical thought. It intends to clarify the concepts of the communicative development of both the society and the individual. These concepts are important since they help understand the premises behind the communicative process, the moral development and their emancipation. The methodological approach of this study involves bibliographic research of Habermas work and the work of some of his followers, such as Freitag, Rouanet and Siebenechler. In order to better understand the Moral Development Theorv and the Communicative Action Theory, it is important to understand the new social paradigm that divides the social system into life world and system world. The first is related to the development of the communicative action and the latter is related to the development of the instrumental and strategic world. Moreover, this paper will note down the concept of Identity of the self elaborated on the basis of a communicative development which agrees with Piagetos view and was influenced by a materialistic dialectic view. This concept builds the three basic levels of the communicative action development: the pre-conventional, the conventional and the post conventional levels. In this paper we underline and defend an alternative way to analyze the processes of both human and social phenomena developments and consider Habermas theory a psychosocial theory.
