Abstract

Recently, various researchers of Education see as a challenge the understanding of the role of the educator as they try to incorporate new ways of thinking into their work. We live in a society dominated by knowledge. Invariably, in the universities, this fact has been generating confl icts, because we need not only professors which construct knowledge but professionals who are capable of constructing a contextualized knowledge without loosing dynamism while attending convergent and common interests to the whole group of co-workers. The objective of this study is to analyze the “new dimensions” of competence in the formation of the professional professor. At this moment, our society into a society is organized by the timing set by globalization, which transforms our society into a society of communication in which selection and management of information become important. Therefore, it is required frequently that the professionals obey the New guiging Laws and Bases of the Brazilian Educational System. To all analyses of competence, suggested by the authors, is required the emergence of a new professional professor.
