Hydroquinone formulations color change with stabilizing agent addition, as emulsion instability parameter

Hidroquinona. Estabilidade. Alteração de coloraçãoAbstract
In pharmaceutical manipulation area, many dermatological medical prescriptions with hydroquinone are associated to others actives like kojic acid and glycolic acid to get a faster skin-whitening. Hydroquinone has a strong chemical instability and, by the way, it is necessary the addition of stabilizing agents to extend the shelf-life formulation, besides the temperature has a strong influence on keeping the physical and chemical properties. The stabilizing agents have different performances depending on the formulation and their inclusion does not mean that will be useful to keep the formulation physical and chemical properties. So it is necessary to choose the best one. This study analyses the emulsions color keeping in the presence of different stabilizing agents, by itself or in association to other ones, besides the temperature influence. The results show sodium metabissulfite as the best employed stabilizing agent and the best temperature condition is when the samples are under refrigeration.Downloads
