Abstract

Introduction: long-term Covid has symptoms longer than two weeks after the SARS-COV-2 infection and may be related, in the elderly, to a greater impairment of the musculoskeletal system Objective: to investigate in the literature the occurrence of sarcopenia, frailty syndrome (FS) and functional disability in post-COVID-19 elderly Methods: this is a literature review with searches in the PubMed, LILACS and MEDline databases, using the descriptors: Elderly, Sarcopenia, Frailty, Functional disability, Long Covid. Thus, full articles, prospective cohort studies, which were published between 2020 and 2022 and which were available in English, Portuguese and Spanish were included Results: 7 English language articles were included for this review. In them, the authors point out that there is an impact of the long-term covid on sarcopenia and SF, less expressive in functional disability Conclusion: therefore, apparently long-term covid interferes with the occurrence of sarcopenia, FS and functional disability in the elderly.
