Abstract

The presence of midline diastemas can be caused by the presence of prominent labial fraenum insertion, mesiondens or by genetic factors. However, it can substantially compromise the esthetic of the smile in function of its extension. This work describes the clinical technique to the closure of a diastema between upper central incisors, that present deficient restorations, with composite resins. It can be observed that the use of adhesive systems and composite resins employing minimum interventions can provide a better contour to teeth resulting in a more aesthetic smile.
